Using your RV
Departing in Your Rental RV
All clients must call the rental centre early on pick up day to make arrangements for departure in the reserved RV. If you have booked a standard rental, pick up will be scheduled between 1pm and 4pm and you must make your own way to the rental station; if you have booked an 'Early Bird Departure Special' pick up will be between 9am and 11am and our transfer service will collect you from your designated area hotel. At the rental centre, you will be given RV operating instructions and helpful travel information. Some centres will play an instruction video as well.
RVs are as easy to drive as a large van or pickup truck, and require no special driver's license in any state or province. All rental motorhomes are equipped with automatic transmission, power steering and power brakes. You will receive a Renters Assistance Guide, which gives you tips on safe driving, entering and leaving campgrounds, and operating your RV.
You will be asked to inspect your motorhome before you depart and sign a Departure Check-Out sheet. If there is anything you are not happy with, you must tell the staff on duty and have them rectify the problem before you depart. Once you are absolutely happy with everything, have unpacked your clothes and your kits, checked out your contract and are pulling out of the rental station in your vehicle, you are free of the expense of hotel rooms, car rentals, restaurants, and the drudgery of packing and unpacking.
You are ready to roll and enjoy!
Living in Your RV
RVs are equipped with all features you will need to live comfortably - a kitchen area with a dinette, cooker, refrigerator and freezer, hot and cold running water, and often a microwave oven. Of course, there is a bathroom area with shower and toilet facilities. Sleeping areas are comfortable with privacy curtains or shades. Even the dinette makes into a comfortable bed. Your RV has a water heater for hot showers and a thermostat-controlled furnace for heat and air conditioning. Your Renters Assistance Guide has detailed information on operating these vehicle systems and detailed vehicle specifications.
Using the Generator
Most motorhomes are equipped with an electric power generator that renders the RV completely self-contained. The generator is not necessary for normal vehicle operation or overnight at a campground when your RV is hooked up to an electrical shoreline. There is an hourly charge for use of the generator.
